The Ellatzite-Med Mine Waters Treatment Project aimed to recover copper from mine-impacted waters, addressing both operational efficiency and environmental responsibility by transforming dissolved copper into a marketable, high-value product. Extensive ion exchange testwork was performed to evaluate resin performance and capacity, followed by solvent extraction trials to optimize copper purification. Insights from this work informed the Front End Engineering and Design (FEED) phase, resulting in a process design precisely matched to the site's water chemistry, infrastructure, and operational requirements.
